October is around the corner and with it comes a slew of unique festivals. There’s something for everyone to enjoy whether you’re a bibliophile or foodie. Here are a few events we’re marking on our calendar this month. 

Austin City Limits Music Festival

Zilker Park | October 4-6 & 11-13 | Website

This famous music festival boasts live performances from chart-topping artists and local bands, delectable Austin eats, and both a beer hall and wine lounge for guests 21 and older. If you’re headed to Zilker for one or both weekends, be sure to take a look at our Local’s Guide to ACL 2019.

Austin Coffee & Cordials Festival

Fair Market | October 5, 10a-4p | Website

Grab a cup of joe at Austin’s first coffee festival. Attendees can expect to find CBD coffee, an interactive art wall, live music, and pet playground as well as a pumpkin patch for kids. Mimosas and cocktails are available for guests over 21. 


German Free School | October 12, 11a-7:30p | Website

Join the German-Texan Heritage Society for their annual Oktoberfest event complete with live music, authentic German food, a biergarten, and kid’s activities. 

CraftHER Market Fall 2019

Fair Market | October 12-13, 11a-5p | Website

Produced by #bossbabesATX, this beloved bi-annual market showcases talent from a community of makers and entrepreneurs while providing attendees with intriguing panels.

Dripping Spring Songwriters Festival

Dripping Springs - Various Locations | October 18-20 | Website

Experience original music at this singer/songwriter showcase which features over 30 shows per day. Highlighting both local and national talent, the festival is free for visitors.

Texas Trucklandia Fest

Austin American-Statesman | October 19 | 12-6p | Website

Help Austin decide which food truck surpasses all the rest at this year’s Texas Trucklandia Fest. Become a judge for $50 or snag a general admission ticket for $10 at the door so you’ll be able to eat your way through all 30 food trucks. 

Austin Film Festival

Paramount Theater & Various Locations | October 24-31 | Website

This nationally recognized festival spotlights everything from indie films to top-billed movies. Be sure to register for tickets ahead of time!


Bullock Texas State History Museum | October 25 | 5-8p | Website

Join the Bullock Museum in partnership with Girlstart for this free event. Explore exhibits after hours with the whole family while supporting a nonprofit dedicated to increasing girls’ engagement in science, tech, engineering, and math.

Texas Book Festival 

Texas State Capitol Building & Surrounding Area | October 26-27 | Website

Now one of the nation’s most well-known events for book lovers, Texas Book Festival will host 250 authors this year. Attendees can enjoy panels, demonstrations, live music, book signings and local fare. 

Austin Crab & Seafood Festival

Republic Square | October 26 | 12-8p | Website

Blue crabs, snow crabs and soft shell crabs will be cooked to perfection and served to Austinites at this year’s seafood festival downtown. You can also grab a bite of fresh live Maine lobster, sip on adult beverages or play fun lawn games with friends and family.


City of Bee Cave Central Park | October 27 | 4-6p | Website

Bring your furry friends to this fun event—And be surety dress the part! This Halloween dog parade and costume contest benefits the Bee Cave Dog Park.

Boo at the Zoo

Austin Zoo | Each Friday & Saturday night in October | Website

For ghosts and ghouls of every age, Boo at the Zoo is back! Come dressed in your halloween costume of choice (no masks) and enjoy a spooky train ride through the park while nocturnal animals stir.
