Where it Began
My first real estate deal was my personal house in Bouldin Creek 15 years ago. The absolute best way to learn the business is to do your own deal – you learn everything that you should and shouldn’t do. I had no idea real estate would turn into the career that it has become and my first deal got me hooked on the business.
Around the Community
I love to fundraise and participate in various special occasions for a multitude of causes, but I have special place in my heart for the Animal Trustees of Austin, Dress for Success and military veterans. My boyfriend is a retired Navy SEAL so I typically end up supporting or participating in his causes as well. We are heading to Normandy, France in two weeks for the DDay Epic Challenge where he is running in support of the Navy SEAL Museum and specifically the Trident House Charities Program.
Her Perfect Weekend in Austin
Saturday mornings are my favorite! The perfect Saturday would involve waking up and hitting the crown jewel of Austin (Town Lake, aka Lady Bird Lake) for a long run, grabbing coffee at the Picnik trailer and a few breakfast tacos from Taco Deli. After that I’ll run errands around town and do some good ol’ piddling around the house before heading to a nice dinner with good wine and good friends at Uchi, Red Ash or True Food Kitchen. The pace of my Sunday mornings is a touch slower and I like to start the day with church out in Lakeway, a full stack of pancakes at Kerbey Lane Café, and taking the dogs out into nature by hiking the trail off Spicewood Springs or the Barton Creek Greenbelt. An easy, low key dinner at the Whole Foods fish market while still in workout clothes is the perfect way to end the evening!
Her Most Memorable Sold
I can find something pretty great about every property that I help a client buy or sell, but there are two homes that stand out to me. One house was out in the Hill Country at 23921 Milestone and had views for days! I felt like I had been transported to Napa Valley when I was there – The home was an absolute stunner yet very livable and with so many outdoor living areas showcasing the nature and views around the land. The other home was in Westlake on 2405 Camino Alto. This was a house I called the “Westlake Penthouse” because it sat up on a ridge facing downtown and Lake Austin, with views that literally took your breath away. It featured incredibly beautiful finishes and outdoor spaces that I still dream about! I doubt we will see either one of those houses come back on the market as the buyers LOVE their homes.
What Makes a House a Home
There has to be some sort of way for my home be connected to the outdoors. Whether it is a patio, deck, outdoor living area, screened porch or simply access to a trail or park, that is my one must-have. Having two rescue dogs, we crave nature and outdoors as it is fuel for my soul. Austin is one of the best cities in the world (in my opinion) that you can actually disappear in nature for a bit and be only five minutes to downtown. We are so lucky to have such accessible trails and parks in our city, which truly is a dream – and makes selling in this town a dream job.
